Bicycle Card Design

1. How does the design that you created demonstrate your knowledge of playing card design?

The design that I created demonstrates my knowledge of playing card design because it uses a symmetrical, reflected design on the top. My knowledge of card design is also displayed through the use of a cohesive color scheme throughout the cards, and a design that is fairly simple, yet intricate on the card top. I used the reflection tool, rotation tool, and live paint tool.

2. How would the rest of the deck look? What would you do for the other picture cards? Please describe in detail?

Since my theme is months, I would convey each month with its corresponding number. January for Ace, February for the number 2, March for the number 3, and so on. I would use aspects such as seasons, holidays, and weather associated with each month for each card.

3. How does your design demonstrate your knowledge of adobe illustrator?

My design demonstrated my knowledge of Adobe illustrator by the tools and techniques I used. I used the pen tool as shown with the numbers like a calendar going across my card top; I used the image trace tool for the graphics on my card top, on the number card, and for Dick Clark on the picture card. Because the number of colors were limited, I used the eyedropper tool to change the colors on Dick Clark to use colors from my color scheme, and I changed the opacity of the colors to create different values of the colors in my color scheme.

4. What do you feel was the most challenging part of this project and why?

The most challenging part is making the cards look like they belong to the same deck and creating an appropriate color scheme that suits the cards. It was difficult creating the Dick Clark image with the color scheme I have.

5. If you can change one requirements what would it be and why?

If I could change one requirement I would change the themes used and how we chose our themes. It would be more of an enjoyable project if we had the freedom to pick whatever theme we wanted or at least to choose whichever theme we wanted from the themes given.
